Saint Vincent exceeded the national average in 14 of the 18 quality-of-care indicators on the Hospital Compare website, which allows consumers to compare data on how U.S. hospitals treat the three most common medical conditions: pneumonia, heart attack and heart failure
Saint Vincent earned an award of $1.2 million dollars from Highmark Quality Blue Hospital Improvement for scoring 99 percent in all categories for improving outcomes for four select health improvement projects
Introduced Guidelines in Applied Practice (GAP) initiatives, which pushed heart attack patient outcomes above the state average
Saint Vincent earned better-than-expected mortality and readmission ratings in 10 categories from the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council (PHC4)
Saint Vincent was named to Solucient’s list of the nation’s Top 100 Performance Improvement Leader Hospitals
The organization that accredits hospitals across the country gave Saint Vincent a ranking above that of most accredited hospitals for its performance in heart failure and pneumonia care

Minimized discomfort for patients undergoing gastrointestinal diagnostic testing by introducing the use of a tiny capsule camera.
Introduced drug-coated stents to reduce the regrowth of scar tissue in arteries.
Established a Stealth Station, featuring neurological navigation hardware and software to help neurosurgeons work with more precision
Cryosurgery for prostate cancer, making recovery faster and potentially eliminating the need for radiation treatment
Exclusives:
Saint Vincent is the only hospital in the region to utilize artificial implantable heart devices
Saint Vincent is the only provider in the region to offer Computer Aided Detection (CAD) for mammography, enabling radiologists to find cancers up to two years earlier.
Our NICU – the community’s busiest – is the only one to offer nitric oxide therapy to babies with pulmonary hypertension, often eliminating the need for our tiniest patients to be transferred to specialty hospitals in larger cities.
We are the only hospital in the region with three dedicated neonatologists plus a certified neonatal nurse practitioner.
Partnering with the Regional Cancer Center, Saint Vincent is now home to the region’s first comprehensive oncology program, with the region’s only surgical oncologist – Hank Hill, MD
Saint Vincent is the only hospital in the area to offer Helix Hydro-Jet technology, which minimizes use of a scalpel for patients requiring surgery for liver or pancreatic cancer.
