Commitment to Quality

Saint Vincent Health System has a strong commitment to quality and is a part of everything that we do. 

Quality Vision Statement
Saint Vincent Health System works continuously to improve the health care that we deliver to our patients and achieve excellence in all we do.  Clinical quality, customer service and patient safety are our highest priorities.

Goals
Saint Vincent's quality goals are based on the Institute of Medicine's Six Aims for Improvement Framework.

  • Safe:  Avoid injuries to patients from the care that is intended to help them.

  • Timely:  Reduce wait and harmful delay for both those who receive and those who give care.  

  • Effective:  Avoid underuse and overuse of medical services. Attain and maintain regional and national superiority in clinical quality based on performance compared to nationally recognized standards. 

  • Efficient:  Avoid waste, in particular, waste of equipment, supplies, ideas and energy.

  • Equitable:  Provide quality care regardless of personal characteristics such as gender, ethnicity, geographical location and socioeconomic status.

  • Patient-centered:  Provide care and services that are respectful and responsive to individual patient preferences, needs and values, and ensure that patient values guide all clinical decisions.
