The Saint Vincent Auxiliary

"In every community, there is work to be done. In every heart, there is the power to do it." Marianne Williamson

It is the spirit behind the very founding of Saint Vincent more than 130 years ago.  After a man fell and shattered his ankle in front of the Sisters of St. Joseph Orphanage and Motherhouse, a group of sisters gave of their own time to take care of him, and it was from that single act of volunteerism that Saint Vincent emerged. That spirit still thrives today in the 200+ volunteers who serve Saint Vincent Health Center, a non-profit hospital.  Often, these men and women are the very first people a patient or visitor encounters when they enter Saint Vincent. They are the caring, compassionate, welcoming face of the Health Center, donating more than 20,000 hours of service annually…which translates into hundreds of thousands of dollars in savings for Saint Vincent. The Saint Vincent Auxiliary, an official non-profit organization since 1916, is designed to harness the abilities and energies of people of all ages and walks of life.  From young people to retirees, from homemakers to working professionals, volunteers are vital to making Saint Vincent the best place to get care and the best place to give care.

Saint Vincent Auxiliary Mission

The Saint Vincent Auxiliary, a diverse community of volunteers, is dedicated to the preservation of the legacy of the Sisters of Saint Joseph by serving Saint Vincent Health System with their time, talent, enthusiasm, compassion and caring for all.

Student Volunteers

Saint Vincent Junior Volunteer - Deadline to submit the application is Wednesday, May 26th, 2010.

Saint Vincent welcomes high school students who are interested in volunteering in the health care field.

Volunteers must complete a minimum of 3 hours per week between June and August and must attend the mandatory orientation.

Participating in the program is a perfect way to learn more about health care careers and gives you the opportunity to earn community service hours. Many students are placed directly on the nursing units so they can receive a first hand look at daily hospital operations.

The Junior Volunteer Program is only available during the summer months for easier availability in scheduling. If you are interested please complete the pre-registration form or call 814-452-5359.
