Premier Award for Quality
Saint Vincent Health System continues to exceed national standards for quality of care. Saint Vincent Health System received the Premier Award For Quality (AFQ) for the third, consecutive year in a row. We are one of only two hospitals in the nation to receive this award for three consecutive years. There were 3,788 hospitals and 346 healthcare systems that were eligible to receive the AFQ. The award recognizes leading healthcare organizations that efficiently provide outstanding patient care and consistently set the standard in clinical excellence. The AFQ’s performance-based criteria including clinical quality outcomes, resource utilization, and clinical process indicators measures top performers at the overall hospital level.
The Society of Thoracic Surgeons National Adult Cardiac Surgery Database
The STS provides one of the nations most comprehensive databases for procedures and outcomes measured on a national scale. In these databases, Saint Vincent Heart and Vascular Center exceeds the standards in outcomes, being in the top decile in the nation with overall outcomes, open heart quality outcomes and medications provided to patients. At Saint Vincent Heart and Vascular Center we perform more open heart procedures than any other regional hospital.
United Health Premium
Saint Vincent Health Center received designation by United Health Premium as a United Health Premium cardiac specialty center.
Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories
The echocardiography heart laboratories of Saint Vincent’s Regional Heart Network received the highest level of recognition for commitment to quality patient care. The cath labs received this accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL)
Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council (PHC4)
Saint Vincent Health Center finished tops among western PA hospitals with exceptional care performance in congestive heart failure (CHF), diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), total hip replacement surgery, pneumonia and urological infections. In addition, PHC4 recognized that the Saint Vincent cardiothoracic surgeons perform twice as many heart procedures as other surgeons in the region, making a successful recovery significantly more likely.
