A new device used in the treatment of spinal stenosis is the X-STOP®, a titanium metal implant designed to fit between two bones in a patient’s back. It is implanted through a small incision to force the bones apart and create more space and freedom for the nerves in the back. The X-STOP implant allows patients to stand up straight without the spinal nerves being pinched and causing pain. This procedure requires no removal of bone, allowing for a quicker recovery than the traditional laminectomy.
